About the Bay Area Humanists and Humanist Community

The Bay Area Humanists and Humanist Community is a Chapter of the American Humanist Association. Established in 1962, we have a long tradition of promoting humanist values while providing interesting educational programs and fun, friendly social events for our members.

Our group is open to all, independent of race, gender, age, color, national origin, ethnic background, socioeconomic status, marital status, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Our main event is the Sunday Forum which features a different speaker every Sunday at 11 AM. For the time being, our Sunday Forums will be held online. Please see any Sunday Forum summary for instructions for taking part in our Sunday Forums.

In October, 2025, the membership of the Bay Area Humanists and the membership of the Humanist Community voted to merge the two organizations into one.
