{"id":867,"date":"2012-04-21T03:35:40","date_gmt":"2012-04-21T03:35:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.humanists.org\/blog\/?page_id=867"},"modified":"2012-04-26T03:54:05","modified_gmt":"2012-04-26T03:54:05","slug":"easter-reclaim-the-spring-festival","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.humanists.org\/blog\/easter-reclaim-the-spring-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Easter &#8211; Reclaim the Spring Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Reclaim<\/strong> <strong>the Spring Festival<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Honor the rebirth of the slumbering Earth,<br \/>\nBursting with new life, It sends forth<br \/>\nthe promise of future abundance<br \/>\nFrom deep in the dark, yeasty earth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Do not tell us that on this day we must<br \/>\nBow down, entering into a place and a mind set<br \/>\nThat tells us about birth without sex, dying without death,<br \/>\nTrinities of power with no feminine, and eternal damnation!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Let every egg and rabbit and flowering tree remind us of<br \/>\nThe green magic of the burgeoning\u00a0 earth, whose festival this is.<br \/>\nWalk through the greening fields and the flowering orchards,<br \/>\nEagerly responding to life\u2019s imperative, \u2018Be fruitful!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Free all the ancient fertility symbols<br \/>\nReclaim the\u00a0 rabbits copulating in the hedgerows!<br \/>\nRearing their large broods without thought or knowledge<br \/>\nThat they will give with their bodies, life to wild\u00a0 multitudes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Reclaim that perfect symbol of nurture and rebirth<br \/>\nThat iconic shape, the perfect egg,<br \/>\nGrowing in strength and power until the time comes<br \/>\nWhen it will release another living creature into the earth\u2019s tapestry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">And honor the multitudes who came before<br \/>\nWho lived and died,\u00a0 ignorant of many things<br \/>\nBut who knew that the earth was their ground of being<br \/>\nAnd that they owed it respect and\u00a0 nurturance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This is our good legacy, the fruitful earth,<br \/>\nthe living animals and plants<br \/>\nAnd the drive in all things<br \/>\nto be fruitful and multiply.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Celebrate it! Honor it!
