{"id":3490,"date":"2013-03-31T04:24:31","date_gmt":"2013-03-31T04:24:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.humanists.org\/blog\/?page_id=3490"},"modified":"2013-04-07T21:49:25","modified_gmt":"2013-04-07T21:49:25","slug":"easter-holiday","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.humanists.org\/blog\/easter-holiday\/","title":{"rendered":"Easter Holiday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In addition to the poem below, Sena Havasy has contributed a fascinating <a title=\"Easter History Evolution\" href=\"http:\/\/www.humanists.org\/blog\/easter-history-evolution\/\">History of the Easter Holiday<\/a> as well as information on special dates in the <a title=\"Easter-Goddess Book of Days\" href=\"http:\/\/www.humanists.org\/blog\/from-the-goddess-book-of-days\/\">Spring Calendar<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3564\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3564\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.humanists.org\/blog\/easter-holiday\/rabbit-egg-full-color-blossoms-300\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3564\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3564\" alt=\"by Sena\" src=\"http:\/\/www.humanists.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Rabbit-Egg-full-color-Blossoms-300.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"264\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3564\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">by Sena<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 align=\"center\"><b>Reclaim<\/b> <b>the Spring Festival<\/b>!<\/h2>\n<p align=\"center\">Honor the rebirth of the slumbering Earth,<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Bursting with new life, It sends forth<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">the promise of future abundance<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">From deep in the dark, yeasty earth.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Do not tell us that on this day we must<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Bow down, entering into a place and a mind set<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">That tells us about birth without sex, dying without death,<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Trinities of power with no feminine, and eternal damnation!<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Let every egg and rabbit and flowering tree remind us of<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">The green magic of the burgeoning earth, whose festival this is.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Walk through the greening fields and the flowering orchards,<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Eagerly responding to life\u2019s imperative, \u2018Be fruitful!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Free all the ancient fertility symbols<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Reclaim the rabbits copulating in the hedgerows!<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Rearing their large broods without thought or knowledge<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">That they will give with their bodies, life to wild multitudes.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Reclaim that perfect symbol of nurture and rebirth<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">That iconic shape, the perfect egg,<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Growing in strength and power until the time comes<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">When it will release another living creature into the earth\u2019s tapestry.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">And honor the multitudes who came before<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Who lived and died, ignorant of many things<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">But who knew that the earth was their ground of being<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">And that they owed it respect and nurturance.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">This is our good legacy, the fruitful earth,<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">the living animals and plants<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">And the drive in all things<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">to be fruitful and multiply.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Celebrate it!
