All About Owls!

Learn all that youve ever wanted to learn about owls here at the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge!Where do owls eat? How do we not hear them when they flap their wings? Are owls the brainiacs of the bird world? Through
an interactive presentation and other activities, learn the answers to all these questions.
What: An Informative Presentation about Owls
Where: The Environmental Education Center in Alviso, CA. Note: Do Not use internet driving direction, as the center does not show up in most systems. Directions:
1. If coming from Milpitas or 880, get on 237 West toward Mountain View. If coming from Sunnyvale or 101, take 237 East.
2. Take the Zanker Rd. Exit and head toward Alviso and the Bay (North).
3. At about .7 miles, the road will curve to the left and become Los Esteros Rd.
4. At about 1.2 miles later, after crossing the railroad tracks, make a sharp right onto Grand Blvd.
5. Follow Grand Blvd. to the Environmental Education Center.
The distance from 237 to Grand Blvd. entrance road is about 2.1 miles. If you reach Spreckles Ave., you have gone too far and need to U-turn.
When: Saturday, February 11, 2012. Meet outside of the main entrance at 1:15 p.m.

Playland at the Conservatory

Step right up for a ride back in time as the Conservatory of Flowers presents an all new garden railway displaycelebrating the legendary Playland at the Beach and a bygone era of seaside amusement that was located on San
Francisco's West End. In a dazzling display landscaped with hundreds of dwarf plants, model trains and
trolleys wend their way past the famed Sutro Baths, zip around a replica of the Victorian-era Cliff House and
whiz through a fantastic mini version of San Francisco's beloved Playland at the Beach. Young and old alike
will marvel at the sight of its most famous attractions including the Big Dipper, Diving Bell, Fun House,
Airplane Ride and more all creatively crafted from recycled and repurposed materials while the sounds of the
arcade and even Laffing Sals boisterous voice transport visitors right back to the midway. The exhibit also
includes real memorabilia and photographs from Playland and beyond in a fascinating display that tells the
story of San Francisco's lost ocean-front treasures.

Cost: General Admission/ San Francisco Residents Admission (with proof of residency).

The Annual GREENLIGHT Earth Day Film Festival

The GREENLIGHT Earth Day Film Festival is a celebration of Earth Day featuring film projects thatexplore environmental citizenship and show how individual actions can reduce environmental impacts.
Films featured at the 2012 Festival will be produced by local artists, with an emphasis on student-
produced films.
Enjoy films produced locally, inspired globally at this festive green-carpet affair!
